Flojetting at AMS

This month, we are traveling between shops in Louisville, Akron and Columbus to ensure that AtFAB works on different cutting machines and in different materials. In Louisville we are collaborating with AMS to Flojet scale models from aluminum.  The beam of water on a Flojet is .040″, posing a challenge for achieving the perfect fit on a 1:6 prototype that is cut from 1/8″ aluminum. In contrast to the full scale prototypes, successful fits aren’t achieved by a beam that directly follows the line of the cut file. In order to ensure that a single CAD file works across many machines, we’re deep into the process of finding settings for each machine that will yield the same results across all the joints in every AtFAB piece.
