Open Source Living Room

A ridiculous pile of stuff - AtFAB Open Source Lounge VA prep - 54

We are looking forward to Maker Faire 2014 in San Mateo next week. We will be exhibiting the Open Source Living Room, where visitors can chill in the distributed manufacturing future. We’ve been working with our friends at ShopBot Tools to fabricate the living room, which will feature the first generation of AtFAB designs, as well as a few new pieces – all open source. This year, we’re collaborating with a distributed team of 100kGarages.com fabbers from around the US, who have designed and fabricated their versions of the AtFAB 5-30 Minute Chair. We’re are quite excited to see these beautifully made, creative interpretations from A Tree on a Hill Workshop, RRPS Inc, Eric Andracke’s Manufacturing Class from Mahomet-Seymour High School, and a few others next week. Below are a few shots of our fabrication weekend at Bill’s shop on the Eastern Shore last month.
