Atomic Cities Subsurface Modeling

Filson and Rohrbacher’s Atomic Cities Research Group is working on a Department of Energy funded project that is considering the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Paducah, Kentucky. Our project scope includes a history of the site, a 150 year plan for the site and region, and a comprehensive model representing the qualities and extents of ground concentrations present beneath the plant. The images below show our team’s progress of fabricating the ground concentration model from geological field data provided by the University of Kentucky’s Center for Applied Energy Research.  The team has begun to digitally fabricate components to form a “document,” which communicates the relationships between ground concentrations, geological strata, aquifer, river and the PGDP Complex that sits above.
